DANCE SHOES & TIGHTS

EDE Dancers & Parents, we will be ordering dance shoes & tights in January. EVERY dancer on our team MUST have this same dance shoe & performance tights! This is part of team unity & professionalism, which we will be critiqued on at competition.

Dance Shoes: If you purchased dance shoes earlier this year (or if you were on our team last year) we will be ordering the same dance shoe. All dancers who do NOT have this dance shoe will need to purchase it. The price for these dance shoes is $32. If you have shoes from earlier this year, or last dance season, they will need to be in PERFORMANCE CONDITION or you will need to order a new pair! This means your dance shoes can NOT have holes in them, nor many scuff marks. At the beginning of this dance season, most dancers tried on dance shoes for correct sizing. However, some dancers may have been absent or may have grown. We will have sizing pairs for dancers to try on during class time the first few weeks of January. Parents, if you would like approve of the size that will be ordered for your child, please come 5-10 minutes before their class time or near the end of class to have your child try on a dance shoe for sizing.

Performance Tights: If you were enrolled in classes with 24/7 Dance Company last dance season then the tights we will be ordering are the same performance tights that were used for the recital/competitions last year. ALL dancers on our team MUST have these performance tights. The cost of these tights is $6. If you have these tights from last year’s performances then they must also be in PERFORMANCE CONDITION or you will need to order a new pair! This means your tights can NOT have ANY holes (big or small) or any runs. In order for us to order the performance tights we need to know each dancer’s height & weight. This information is needed in order for us to order you the correct size of tights. Tights are an under garment, therefore we will not have dancers try them on for sizing, therefore is it VERY important that you give us accurate height & weight for each dancer to ensure you get the correct size ordered for you.

***If you are needing to order dance shoes and/or tights, you will need to be fitted for shoes & bring in your measurements for tights by Jan. 14th, we will order the dance shoes & performance tights right away & you will need to pay for them no later than FEB. 11th! Dance shoes & performance tights will be handed out as soon as they arrive, if you have paid for them in full & ALL other dues are paid up to date.***

(Please do not write in your dance shoe size, Dana will write in your size once you have been fitted for dance shoes. Sizing for dance shoes is different than for regular shoes). **Please bring in this form by Jan. 14th so that we can get your dance wear items ordered.**

Solos, Duos, Trios & Quads

Attention Soloists & Parents: Competition time is coming up very quickly! Soloists & Team members need to practice, practice, practice! We do not want to get caught unprepared! PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!! The competitions we will be attending as a team are: Dance Spectacular Utah (held on March 27th) and Utah Dance Championships (held on April 30th for solos & May 1st for team routines). Both competitions will be held at Roy High School in Roy, Utah.

If you are competing a solo, duo, trio, quad or entering in the Cover Girl contest, it is YOUR responsibility to complete any entry forms necessary & to send it in to the competition with your payment by their deadlines. If you would like an application for a solo, duo, trio, quad or Cover Girl contest, please specify which competition and Dana will either give you a copy of the application or tell you the website in which you can download their applications. On your application you MUST put the studio/company name: 24/7 Dance Company AND our team name: Elite Dance Extreme. **It is your responsibility to bring your music to the competition, as stated in the applications.**

If you are competing a solo, duo, trio or quad, I personally suggest entering BOTH competitions. In this case after the first competition, you can go over your score sheets with your choreographer to see what the judges liked about your performance, what they suggest you practice, & if you would like to make any changes to your routine. This way you can improve or do just as well at the second competition.

Prices for Dance Spectacular (March Competition)
Solo: $60.00 each Duo: $40.00 each girl
Trio: $35.00 each girl Quad: $35.00 each girl

Prices for Utah Dance Championships (April/May Competition)
Solo: $59.00 each Duo: $35.00 each girl
Trio: $35.00 each girl Quad: $35.00 each girl

At Dance Spectacular Utah (March Competition) there is also a photogenic contest called “Cover Girl.” To enter, contestant must complete the entry form and enclose a VERTICAL 8x10, color or black & white recent photo of themselves. (Photo must reflect contestants age). The cost to enter into the Cover Girl division is $40.00 for the 1st entry and any additional entry of the SAME person is an additional $25.00.

BOTH Competitions state that anyone who competes a solo, duo, trio, quad will receive a trophy. Dance Spectacular states that anyone who enters in the Cover Girl contest will receive a trophy.

Any dancers on our team that compete a solo, duo, trio or quad will have first priority to perform their routine at our year end recital!!!

Costumes & Competition Fees - Lyrical & Hip-Hop Teams

EDE Lyrical & Hip-Hop Teams:
COSTUMES: Lyrical costumes have been ordered. The full price for you LYRICAL costume is $38. We need all Lyrical & Hip-Hop Team members to at least pay a $20 costume deposit by JANUARY 26th. The remaining amount ($18) will not be due until FEBRUARY 9th. For your Hip-Hop routine your costume will be your team t-shirt, black performance shorts (from you Juniors/Seniors costume), knee high socks & WHITE gym shoes! The knee high socks have been ordered and you will be notified of prices & payment dates later this month. PLEASE make sure you have WHITE (bleach white, no gray) gym shoes. These need to be laced shoes that you will be able to tie tight while performing. These shoes have to be ALL WHITE (no pink stripes, etc). If your shoes have even the smallest amount of color on them, it will show up while performing, especially next to other team members that have all white shoes. If you have a small pink strip or any spot of color you may cover it up with WHITE tape (if the tape will stay stuck to your shoe long enough to perform).
COMPETITION FEES: Those of you who have not paid the $40 for competition fees for your lyrical & hip-hop routines then you MUST pay this amount ON OR BEFORE January 12th. If you do NOT pay by this date then you will NOT compete these routines! No exceptions!

Costumes - Minis & Petites

Attention EDE MINIS & PETITES: Our costumes have either already arrived or will arrive in January. The full price for BOTH costumes is $59 total. If you have already paid your $40 costume deposit (which was due in November) then you only need to pay the remaining amount which is $19. Remaining amount is due on or before January 28th.

I have tried my best to find the best quality costumes for the best price! I feel that the costumes we have ordered are one of the best deals possible, because the average price for ONE performance costume is usually between $40 - $50.

Costumes will be handed out near the beginning of February. Costumes will not be handed out to each dancer unless paid in FULL & ALL other fees are paid up to date. Once you receive your costumes they are YOUR responsibility. Please do not loose or damage your costumes. We ask that you do not wear your costumes until competition/performances so that we do not risk the chance of damaging our costumes. We have had each dancer try on all of their costumes during class time to make sure they fit them correctly. Upon receiving your costumes PLEASE put your name on the tags so that your costumes will not get mixed up with others & if they get left behind at a performance or competition, we will know who it belongs to.
*Costume prices do not include dance shoes and performance tights.*

TEACHERS & ASSISTANTS

24/7 Dance Company was established in September 2008 & is located in Duchesne, Utah.
We offer many classes for Ages 3 to 18 & Competition classes for Ages 6 - 18.

Dana Wilkerson

~24/7 Dance Company Coordinator, Director & Choreographer~
~Elite Dance Extreme~

Growing up in Roosevelt, UT, Dana began her dance career at age eight and has been dancing ever since. Beginning with jazz, ballet, and gymnastics, Dana also took clogging and another year of jazz and ballet before joining a competing dance team at age eleven. Along with the competition team, which was primarily jazz dance, Dana also took numerous classes on the side such as pointe, ballet, and lyrical.

At age fourteen, Dana choreographed and competed her first solo. She competed this routine at two different competitions that year and won 3rd attendant at the first competition and 2nd attendant at the next, both in the amateur jazz division. The next year, Dana again choreographed and competed her own solo at two competitions. At both competitions, Dana took Queen in the amateur lyrical division. This was a huge accomplishment for her.

After four years of competing on a dance team, Dana joined the high school Drill Team her sophomore year and was not allowed to compete with any other dance team while participating. However, she was able to take a few non-competition classes including ballet, gymnastics, and hip-hop.

Since the day Dana walked out of her first dance lesson, she knew that when she grew up, she wanted to be a dance teacher. In the fall of 2007, when Dana was 19 years old, she began teaching a small competing dance team that won 1st & 2nd place trophies while competing at two competitions. The following year, Dana married Todd Wilkerson and moved to Duchesne, UT. There, she opened her own dance company and continued teaching dance. Her first year teaching in Duchesne, Dana had 40 dancers altogether. Her competing team went to two competitions, competed four routines, and won several awards (including OVERALL SHOWMANSHIP). Dana also choreographed her own solo along with two others that year. This year, Dana now has 60 dancers and is still enrolling for non-competition technique classes. The competition team will be performing ten routines at their competitions and Dana is also choreographing solos for five of her dancers.

Dana's love for dance & choreography, makes her a natural & dedicated director for 24/7 Dance Company.

Nikki Coil

~Elite Dance Extreme Petites Assistant~

Starting at the age of four, Nikki Coil has been dancing for nine years. She has learned a wide variety of dancing types, including jazz, ballet, gymnastics, modern, lyrical, drill team (Jr. Drill), and hip-hop. She is currently enrolled in Elite Dance Extreme Seniors, the Elite Dance Extreme Lyrical Team, and the Elite Dance Extreme Hip-Hop Team. She has been assisting at 24/7 Dance Company for approximately one year. This year, Nikki is assisting with the Elite Dance Extreme Petites class.

Nikki’s recent dance experience has consisted of competing with Elite Dance Extreme in the 2008-2009 dance year. Last year, they competed at Dance Spectacular Utah and Dance Spectacular Nationals. Nikki helped her team in winning several trophies. At the year-end recital, Nikki won Most Improved in her class.

This year, Nikki is going with the team to compete at Dance Spectacular and Utah Dance Championships. She will also be competing a solo at both competitions where she hopes to win first place (Queen). Some of her other goals include getting all of her splits flat and getting her “oreo” jump and “half moon pose” down. She is also planning on being on the Duchesne High School drill team next year. We wish her the best of luck!

Shandi Coil

~Elite Dance Extreme Minis Assistant~

At age ten, Shandi Coil has been dancing for four years. Her dance experience includes jazz, ballet, gymnastics, drill team (Jr. Drill), lyrical, and hip-hop. This is Shandi’s second year at 24/7 Dance Company and her first year assisting in dance classes. This year, she is enrolled in Elite Dance Extreme Juniors, the Elite Dance Extreme Lyrical Team, and the Elite Dance Extreme Hip-Hop Team. She is also assisting in the Elite Dance Extreme Minis class.

This year will be Shandi’s first year competing with 24/7 Dance Company. We are very excited to have her on our competition team and know that she will do well. At the year-end recital for the 2008-2009 dance year, Shandi won Most Creative in her class and studio OVERALL DANCER OF THE YEAR! Congratulations Shandi!

Halle Wilkerson

~Pre-Jazz & Pre-Ballet Assistant~

Having two years of dance experience here at 24/7 Dance Company, Halle Wilkerson, age 12, has come a long way. She has gained her dance experience through jazz, ballet, lyrical, and Drill Team (Jr. Drill). She has also been assisting in dance classes for two years. This year, Halle is again assisting with the Pre-Jazz/Pre-Ballet class. She is also enrolled in the Jazz/Ballet 3 class.

Last year, at the year-end recital, Halle received Most Dedicated in her class & also a medal and special recognition for being a spectacular assistant to Dana Wilkerson in the Pre-Jazz/Pre-Ballet class. In the future, Halle looks forward to competing with 24/7 Dance Company. She would also like to compete a solo at a major dance competition where she hopes to win Queen (first place). Another goal of Halle’s is to someday participate in a Dance Company in Salt Lake City. We wish her luck in her future dance career.

Britney Asay

~Competition Assistant~

Returning to help at competition, Britney Asay, age eighteen, has been dancing for approximately eleven years starting at age five, the last two of which were with Dana. Last year was Britney’s first year assisting in dance classes. She assisted in the Elite Dance Extreme Juniors class and the Elite Dance Extreme Petites class.

Britney’s competing experience goes back to age eight. She has been competing in dance for about seven years altogether. She competed her first solo, choreographed by Dana Wilkerson, last year at two competitions. At Dance Spectacular Utah, she won first attendant and at Dance Spectacular Nationals, she placed second attendant. She hopes to one day soon choreograph and compete a jazz solo at a competition, in hopes to win first (Queen).

Kari Asay

~Elite Dance Extreme Hair & Make-Up Artist~

For the last two years, Kari Asay has been our official Hair and Make-Up Artist at our solo 7 team competitions. She received her cosmetology training at the Bon Losee Academy of Hair Artistry, Cosmetology and Esthetics in Provo, UT and graduated in 2005. In June 2008, Kari took a course specifically for make-up artistry. She has been doing hair and make-up for the last four years.
