Picture Day:

ATTENTION DANCERS & PARENTS: Picture day will be held THURSDAY, March 29. Whether you would like to purchase pictures or would prefer not to purchase pictures, we would still like you to come to picture day to be in the class/team picture. We do not want to have anyone missing in the class/group photos. **All class, team and group photos will be displayed at the recital.**

Mock Competition

PLEASE MARK THIS ON YOUR CALENDAR:

We will be having a Gym Practice/Mock Competition on FRIDAY MARCH 16 at the LDS 1^st & 3^rd Ward Church Gym. Dancers will need to arrive BY 4:00 pm. Please come with your hair & make-up done in competition style wearing your PRACTICE ATTIRE. Bring your costumes with you, as you will change into your costumes before the Mock Competition begins. The Mock Competition will start at 6:00 pm. Parents are welcome to watch this performance however please do not bring other relatives/friends as there is VERY limited seating. After the Mock Competition is completed we will quickly go over details and any questions about the Vernal competition.

Gym Practice/Mock Competition Details:

• If solos and duos would like to practice their routines they need to come BEFORE 4:00 pm (with their competition hair/make-up ALREADY done). For this Mock Competition the only solos/duos that will be performing are the solos/duos that are competing in Vernal. All other solos/duos will be able to perform at our next Mock Competition.

• Mock Competition: We will perform our routines in the order that they will be competing at the Vernal competition. Our Senior Company 1 is not able to attend the Vernal competition, however they will still be performing one of their routines at this Mock Competition. Lyrical & Hip-Hop Teams will not be competing in Vernal therefore they will not be performing in this Mock Competition. We will be having an additional Mock Competition in April for ALL routines.

Practice Makes Perfect:

• Showmanship: Dancers please practice your showmanship (smiles & facials) every time you practice your routines. Our team has won an Over-All Showmanship Award 3 out of 4 years we have been competing. Let's make this a team goal to win Over-All Showmanship EVERY year!

• Practice: Dancers need to practice their routines, stretches, facials, etc EVERY day. It is very important that each dancer has her routines memorized.

  • Parents are welcome to record their child's routines for practice purposes. Please schedule ahead of time so we will be ready when you arrive.

  • If you would like a copy of the music of your child's routines for practice purposes, please bring in a blank CD and we will be more than happy to put the music on it for you.

Competition:

VERNAL COMPETITION:

We have received most of the surveys back from parents about whether or not they would like their child to attend the America OnStage Competition in Vernal on March 17. Class decisions had to be unanimous. If you did NOT turn in your sheet and you would LIKE to have your child perform (if class decision is unanimous) OR if you turned in your sheet saying you would NOT like to attend and plans have changed, please let Dana know ASAP.

The classes listed below WILL be attending this competition. Each class will compete ONE routine at this competition.

The cost of the competition fees for this competition is only $13 per dance. If your child is performing in one (or more) of the above listed classes, please be sure to pay your competition fees ON OR BEFORE February 23.

Shoes & Tights:

During the next 1-2 weeks each dancer will be sized for dance shoes. We will be placing an order at the end of this month. If you would like to purchase shoes or tights, please fill out an order form and return by January 26. Payment for these items will be due by February 14. All competition team members are REQUIRED to have the TAN gore boots and TAN tights. If you already have these items they MUST be in performance condition for competition.

All dancers are required to wear some type of dance shoe to class (ballet shoes, gore boots, foot undeez, etc). To order additional dance wear there are recommendations and links to dance wear websites on this blog.

Jerky Fundraiser

Attention Dancers & Parents:

All students who participated in the jerky fundraiser need to turn in all fundraiser money NO LATER THAN January 19. Please try to sell all your jerky by this date. If you are not able to finish selling it you need to bring in the extra jerky and the money for the pieces you have sold. Fundraiser credit amounts will not be credited to your dance account until you have turned in all money for the amount of jerky you checked out.

Competition Fees

Attention Competition Team Members and Parents:

We have extended the payment deadline for the competition fees. They will now be due on or before December 8. Our team will attend TWO competitions. The competition fees are $14 per routine per competition for each dancer.

If your child is enrolled in multiple classes, please add all their class totals together and pay by December 8. If your child is participating in the jerky fundraiser the credit amount they earn can go toward their competition fees.

LIGHT PARADE:

Duchesne's light parade is THIS Saturday (December 3). Line up is at 5:30 pm behind the swimming pool. DANCER'S NEED TO ARRIVE ON TIME. Remember to bring TWO flashlights with NEW batteries (the lights will be on during the entire parade). Dancers need to wear a RED SANTA HAT, and dress warm. If you have team warm-ups, please wear them (be sure to wear extra layers underneath).

The light parade will end at the Cliff Mickelson building (fair building). They will have Santa there for children to meet. Parents, please pick up your dancer at this location. Dancers will not be able to leave without a parent.

WARM-UPS

Warm-Ups have arrived early! Dancers must be paid up to date will all dues, including second warm-up payment, to receive their warm-ups.

Costume Deposits:

REMINDER: All competition team members need to turn in a $50.00 costume deposit on or before November 10^th. If your child is enrolled in Lyrical and/or Hip-Hop, you will need to pay an additional $25.00 toward your costume deposit. Fundraiser credit can be used toward costume deposits. PARENT/FAN T-SHIRTS & DANCE BAGS:

T-shirts are available for pre-order. These are great to show support for your dancer! We LOVE to see our supporters stand out at competitions and performances. Anyone can order these shirts- parents, siblings, dancers, grandparents, etc. As always, we have two t-shirt designs: Women & Men styles. T-shirts are $16 each. We also have team dance bags available for purchase. These are great to have at competitions & performances to help keep your costumes & accessories organized. The bags we have are: hanging garment bags ($30 each), round duffel bags ($20 each), and small tote bags ($10 each). All bags have our team name & a dancer silhouette on them in lime green. If you would like to purchase a t-shirt or dance bag, please sign-up on the “Order Form” clipboard or contact Dana. All items need to be paid for AT TIME OF ORDER. The last day to place your order will be NOVEMBER 9^th.

Competition Team Enrollment Deadline

Due to requests of dancers interested in joining our competition team, we have extended the competition team enrollment deadline to October 31. This will also be the last chance to enroll in our competition "Add-On Only" classes. If anyone would like to join our competition team or "Add-On Only" classes, please let me know ASAP. AFTER October 31, we will not be able to accept any new dancers on our competition team, or in our "Add-On Only" classes, until the next dance season. Students are still more than welcome to join our non-competition classes after this date. Please spread the word! We look forward to a great season!
