NOTE: Competition- misconfusion 11/18/08

Dear Parents & Dancers:
We are reminding you of our competition dates on:
~March 27th & 28th, 2009
~April 24th & 25th , 2009
The competitions are located at Roy High School--- Address: 2150 West 4800 South Roy, Utah

Please mark your calendars!!! We have had a misunderstanding about the competitions. The SATURDAY DATES listed above are the TEAM competition days and the FRIDAY DATES listed above are for any of the dancers who will be competing SOLOS, DUOS or TRIOS. (Please contact me if you would like more info about competing a solo, duo, or trio). We do NOT travel as a team on a bus/vehicle. Each dancer travels out with their own family to the competition. We will then meet together at the competition in our assigned team dressing room. Each dancer is responsible to be to the competition location by the time assigned for our team to meet. We will send out the competition meeting times and performance times 1 month – 2 weeks prior to the competition date (i.e. As soon as the studio receives the information- we will send you a note of the competition information). Our team will perform at various times throughout SATURDAY. Please plan to be there for the majority of the day.

When you receive the competition information packets from our studio, you will also receive a list of nearby hotels if any of you would like to reserve a hotel room.

NOTE 2 - Oct 21 & 22

Dear Dancers & Parents:
This is a friendly reminder; please make sure that your dancer comes to dance class in clothes that she can dance and STRETCH in. It helps for the safety of our dancers, for them stretch properly if they are wearing stretchable/flexible clothing. This means NO JEANS! Examples of clothing dancers can wear to dance classes are spandex pants, sweat pants, shorts, leotards, etc. with a t-shirt or tank-top. If you would like to order dance class attire you can go to these websites: www.discountdancesupply.com or www.justforkix.com; also Wal-mart and Kmart have simple dance attire in the girls department. If this is a problem, let me know and we can see about ordering practice attire for your dancer.

Also, we would like to remind parents/siblings who come to watch; it is very distracting for the girls to dance if there are disruptive people watching, we typically ask in our contract that we don't have an audience while practicing because of the distraction. However, please make sure if you do happen to stay to watch the class that you are quiet and respective. Please do not drop off your children that are not in the dance class, we have had problems with unattended children being very noisy and disruptive. We thank you for your concerns.

We would like to let everyone know that we have an online blog; www.24-7Dance.blogspot.com that will keep you up to date about what is going on at the dance studio, how dancers are doing in class, and upcoming events.

Last Year's Team

As some of you may know, I going to start teaching dance classes in October, which is coming up fast. All week i have been trying to advertising and get everything ready for the first day of sign-ups on Saturday! It has been a bit stressful but not enough to go crazy yet... (well todd might be crazy/sick of it already) anyway starting my classes up again reminds me of my team last year and all the fun we had at practices and competitions. I love my dancing girls so much! we were a small team but we loved it. I remember when the girls would just laugh at me when i did something stupid, like trying to show them the correct way of how to do a leap and then i almost fell completely on my face!! We all laughed, but that's what is so fun about it; I'm not just their teacher, I'm their friend too. We had good times last year, some pretty stressful times too but we still managed to win 2nd place at our first competition and then work harder to win 1st place at our next competition. It was a blast!! I think that my dancer girls have improved a lot just over the past year. They have learned to dance better as a team and to just keep trying! "YOU CAN DO ANYTHING AS LONG AS YOU TRY YOUR BEST!!" that is what i have taught these girls and they have accomplished so much!! At our last class we gave out awards: The award "Most Creative" was given to Alicia. The award "Most Improved" was given to Britney and "DANCER OF THE YEAR" was given to Alyse. I hope to continue giving these three awards every year for each class to honor my "originals". I hope that they will continue dancing and striving to accomplish their dreams!
